Education is a kids chance to improve his future, his families future, and the future of the world. Third world kids don't get this chance. Their socio-economic place excludes them. MIT plans to tackle this access to education problem, by using their problem solving genius. They will include third world kids in education. The One Laptop Program will provide internet ready Open Source laptops, and give poor kids access to the world of education beyond their world.

Yes, it is easy to see all the ways such a dream of one world, one people with equal opportunity may fail. Yes, a laptop is just one small part of improving education in poor countries, but what if it succeeds? It might be the start of something. Imagine how much brighter the world could be!

The Open Source software movement has already proven that co-operative freedom for the common good is not just a dream. By designing the right foundation, its architects have seen it engulf commercial giants, demonstrating that money is not the greatest force.

The greatest force is the thirst for freedom, self-reliance, and equality in a peaceful and loving world. Education is the way. Give a kid a fish and he is fed for a day. Teach a kid to fish and he and his family are fed for a lifetime. Feed the world MIT with the power of education. Teach the kids to fish.
